I Went to M.I.A. last night at the Echo, as mentioned before. And I must say she most definitely rocked the house. It was a zoo! The set was short, only about 45-50 minutes, but then again she really doesn’t have that much material. She played all the jams and a few I had never heard. There was one beat that was absolutely amazing...eurhythmics "Sweet Dreams" synths over this dirrrrrty break. Pure sickness (and that sample is played!) She also rhymed over the instrumental of "Bigger Than Hip Hop" by Dead Prez which was a nice little addition. I couldn’t snag any pics, I left my camera in the car. I wouldn’t have gotten a clear shot anyway. Like I said it was a madhouse. If you get chance to check her out in the future...do so, it's worth it. Thanks Jess!
Well...I have a busy and fun few days ahead of me, but they should be good times (and interesting I might add.) First off, tomorrow, I work. Head down to the Wiltern and pay the bills (hand out some fliers.) Go home. Drink a few. Then head over to the Echo to catch the M.I.A show. This I am quite excited about. Two reasons why...
1) The Echo is a small quaint venue. Very "up close and personal" so to speak. But it's also kind of a shit hole...What am I thinking. Sorry typing out loud again.
2.)M.I.A.'s Album is amazing and I've heard she commands the crowd with overwhelming presence. We'll see.
I'll try to snag a few pix and post them.
Wednesday I work. Woohoo! Then I'm cruisin' over to the Roxy to say hello to a few friends, watch Hot Like A Robot, then bounce like fabric softener. After that I'm going to The Avalon For BPM's big bash E3. This should be pretty sweet...I'm hoping. Deep Dish is gonna drop a few hot ones, along with Carlos D (Interpol), DJ AM, and a few other heavy hitters. I better get out the black shirt and sunglasses for this one (Sarcasm.)
Thursday I work. Ok I'm gonna stop saying that. Then I chill.
Friday I pack to go to Hawaii bitches! More on this later... :)
